Noteworthy: Fall stroke reset will start this week! However, we have big schedule changes this week so take a close look at the above schedule! These were needed in order to account for the current pool situation and to accommodate our coaches with times that work better for their schedules. This Saturday Tom Welsh has generously offered to host an open swim and cookout at his house in Hartland. Look for the details on that below! In addition, we will still have our regularly scheduled Saturday morning practice coached by Maria.

I challenge anyone interested to complete our Saturday Training Camp! Simply come to both practices and swim and you will receive a prize. As simple as that, you swim both available times (pool and open water) and you get a prize!

Event Details/Results:

Open Water Swim and Cookout: THIS SATURDAY 9/23 @ 10:00 am, at his Summer Cottage on Long Lake in Hartland (just 20 minutes from Milford). The lake is approximately 2.5 miles around, and 76° (might be warmer by Saturday). Any distance you want to swim is okay. There will be a couple Kayaks and a Pontoon Boat, to support the swimmers. Tom will provide lunch and beverages (Water, Soft Drinks, Beer and Margarita’s) after the swim for a picnic. Mac swimmers and (non-swimming) guests are welcome. Milford Monsters: Short Course Meters meet at our pool! This meet is a sprinter’s dream! 100s and 50s of strokes, 100 and 200 IM, 400 and 1500 FR. Also, the short relays, 200 FR and Medley! The most awesome part is that there is a 25 meter race that will be contested tournament style! No matter how much you have or have not (me) been in the water, everyone can swim a 25! Put this meet on your TO DO list and sign up on the Michigan Masters website! Let’s start off the year in MAC fashion and have a great presence at this meet!

Jim:
Kris: If you haven’t had a chance to make it to a distance workout before we will start the year off by building our yardage slowly and setting some goals for state meet and nationals. Wednesday drill days will follow the same format as before: we will build a drill progression after a long warmup. I always take requests on what YOU want to work on! It’s been great to see you all back on deck and I’m excited to start coaching again!
Maria: I know it’s early on a Saturday….The high school girls swim right after us (then the boys when their season starts), so we have to be out on time. In order to allow enough time to work on starts and turns, and to get a decent yardage in, make sure you arrive 7:30am. We will also be playing water polo or water basketball once a month! We definitely need time for that!
Melissa:
Dianne: We’ve had a great couple of weeks within practices. I’ve seen some fantastic progress with head position, streamlines, and sculling! I am looking forward to starting with stroke reset and working on improving technique and efficiency.
