2020 Virtual State Meet
The Michigan Masters State Championship meet was sheduled for the weekend of March 27-29, 2020. Because of the global pandemic shut down, the meet was cancelled in early March. To keep the MAC team engaged, we created our own“Virtual State Meet” over that weekend, to keep our members and their families connected, active and safe. With a total 56 volunteer competitors we split into 2 teams: Green and Blue. Points were awarded to individuals for completing events, then their points were added to their team’s overall score. Events were not only for activity but also for keeping connected through Facebook posts. Each event was assigned a point value. Some events were: 5K Run, Dualthlon, Dryland Workouts, Swim Related Video/Photo Facebook Posts, Yoga, and many more. It was a close race all weekend, and it came down to the final day of events where the Blue Team came away with the victory! Blue triumphed with a score 3,555 to Green 3,440. With fun and sucess of this competition – we declared this event as a team VICTORY and our 8th consecutive State Championship, even if the event was virtual.
