Walnut Creek CC: Here are some important things to know about swimming at Walnut Creek:

Time: Saturdays (7/7, 7/14, 7/21), 8:30-10:00am
Walnut Creek Country Club
25501 Johns Road
South Lyon, 48178
• You must be USMS registered to participate. If you are not we will require you register before jumping in the pool. This is a requirement of the insurance coverage through USMS.
• It is $5 cash on the pool deck. We will have an envelope on the table with a sign in sheet so we can keep track of attendance as well. Typically we have change but it’s helpful if you bring a $5. This covers the cost of the lifeguard and coach for practice. If you forget we will work on the honor system – bring it next time.
•  There are kickboards available but that is it so bring your own gear!
•  We will be using Remind to cancel in the event of inclement weather – NOT EMAIL!

Lakeside Masters Invitational: This invitational will be held and August 4 and 5 and is a 2-day meet. Lakeside is located in Louisville, KY within the Highlands. The facility is a converted rock quarry that holds 3.2 million gallons of chlorinated water and contains an eight lane 50 meter course as well as a six land 25 yard course used as a warmup/warmdown area. This truly is a unique swimming and competition pool. I strongly recommend you add this meet/pool to your swimming bucket list!

Senior Olympics: Are you 50 or older? Here’s your chance to attend an awesome meet, win some medals, and have a great time with your MAC teammates! Monday, August 13th at Oakland University is the pool meet and for the first time an Open Water Race has been added that is actually Swim to the Moon. Registration for both swimming portions is here: http://www.michiganseniorolympics.org/

Swim to the Moon: August 19th at Half Moon Lake! Let’s continue MAC’s tradition of excellence and participation in this fantastic event! Check out the website (https://epicraces.com/event/swim-to-the-moon/) and also our spin-off Facebook page MAC to the Moon!

From the Coaches:

Melissa: The 7/14 SSS will be at Trout Lake, in Island Lake State Park. Meet up at 7:45, walking the path by 8:00 am!

Maria: Please bring/wear shorts (over suit) and shoes for Monday pond practice. We will be doing a dry land dynamic warmup, a method you can use for pre-race warming up, especially when there is limited warmup time/space/etc… Nothing demanding, so don’t be afraid!

Dianne: We’ll try and keep up the block and race work this week as well as the longer technique driven swims. Race pace and distance, something for everyone!

On a Personal Note: I hope that everyone had a safe and happy Fourth!

Communication: If you have questions for any of the coaches don’t hesitate to ask! Here’s a quick list of emails to make that a bit easier!
