2. REGISTER FOR THE MEET! at www.michiganmasters.com.  If this is your first State Meet and you are new to the MAC strategy we suggest talking to a coach on deck. We try to get together with others within our age group and spread out so that we are not all swimming the same events. Pick one or two of your favorites or your best events and then work with your teammates to cover the others. It is a good idea to look back over the past couple of year’s results to see how you would score (keeping in mind that people may age into and out of your age group). You can find those on www.michiganmasters.com as well. You can find more info about others in your age group in the MAC Google Doc (more info below).

If you are a Young Gun and are interested in attending State Meet, MAC pays not only for your USMS registration but also the State Meet registration! Please e-mail Kris at macswimgoblue@gmail.com for more information. If you would like to donate to the program you can donate any time to help this program keep running! Make a donation to the coaches and we will make sure it gets deposited into the ‘Jim Young Gun’ fund to support our next generation of swimmers.

3. GIVE RELAY AVAILABILITY at www.milfordathleticclub.org.We use a Google Doc for you to fill out availability for the two relays on Saturday and two relays on Sunday. The password to access this document is: macswimmers. It typically does not work well on mobile browsers. If you plan on attending the meet we need you for relays – it is how we score points, win the meet and retain our State Championship title! It is also a great way to meet teammates and probably are the highlight events of the meet.

For each relay, please let us know if you will be available. For the medley relay you can let us know if you have any stroke limitations due to injury right in the document. By giving us your age and birthdate we can place you accurately in a relay as they are grouped by age.

We also include all the individual events and e-mail in this document so that if you want to utilize it to coordinate with your age groups for individual events you may do so.

We are asking that all relay availability be completed by Friday, March 20. This year, Dianne will be leaving for Paris March 25 and needs to have relays done before she leaves. WE ARE STARTING TO LOOK AT RELAYS SO PLEASE HELP US OUT AND FILL THIS OUT ASAP!

3. RESERVE YOUR HOTEL We have two hotels reserved for the event. Both are about 15 minutes from the pool but right by each other. The Hampton Inn has an option with 2 queen beds (better for sharing) and the Residence Inn is a suite with a kitchen (better if you want to bring your own food for the weekend). You need to book your own room online through the reservation link below by the date indicated. The reservation deadlines are coming up soon so plan accordingly. We suggest if you are looking for a roommate to ask on the Facebook group for roommates.

News #2 – February 21, 2020:

State Meet Registration is Now Open!

Are you pumped? Are you ready? Have you been in the pool five days a week training and are super fast? Uhh… yeah me neither, life happens and the pool falls by the wayside. But come March 27 I’ll be swimming the 1650 slowly and surely and hopefully scoring some points for my team! And I think Jim and I are excited NOT to be the meet director’s in charge this year and be able to swim a full lineup of events. Last year I feel like I barely got to see any of you swim and give feedback so watch out – I’m ready to go this year! Every little bit helps in order to win our 8th consecutive State Title!

4. PLAN ON SOCIALIZING SATURDAY NIGHT We will be doing a team dinner on Saturday night after the 500 Free at one of the hotels. We are looking for a volunteer to coordinate the dinner. If you are interested please e-mail Kris at macswimgoblue@gmail.com to get started on planning this event.5. GET READY TO HAVE FUN! A weekend away with just swimmers to complain about the coaches, talk about hard sets, no chores, new friends to make, and much much more! What more could you ask for? Let us know if you have any questions and we’ll send another update as we get closer to the meet.

If you did not get a chance to attend the State Meet last time in East Kentwood I have a couple of thoughts:First, the pool staff did a great job and it was a well run meet. Bonus points to them for the meet swag being a pint glass for beer at the end of the evening after a long day of swimming! Second, for those of us that typically squeeze in swimming, family, work, driving back and forth to the meet on a State Meet weekend this away meet is a completely different experience! If you have the chance to come for the whole weekend I highly recommend it. I had the best time with my roommates and teammates and really got to know people because I spent the whole weekend away from everyday life. I’m looking forward to this year’s meet and getting to know all the new people and connecting with everyone else – put it on your calendar!
