Noteworthy:
Our meet, Milford Monsters, is this weekend! On Saturday morning you have the chance to come out and swim, have some fun, connect with teammates and masters swimmers from around the State. Part of the funds from this meet will go towards purchasing new equipment for the team. All those stretch cords (in water and dryland) that we have broken over the last year need to be replaced and we would also love to be able to purchase new and different equipment to assist in our training and my personal goal of never having one of my swimmers get bored in a practice!

For Saturday’s meet we will be having the Milford High School team there as timers for the second session (starting at 9:30) but we could use MAC volunteers as timers and counters for the 1500 in the 1st session that starts at 7:30am. If you would be willing to volunteer please arrive no later than 7:15.

As a team, we always provide nutritious and delicious snacks for the swimmers, coaches, and volunteers at the meet. If you are participating or would just like to help out our team while you come and cheer on your teammates, please drop off your snack when you arrive at the pool in the wet classroom.

Our meet, Milford Monsters, is tomorrow and we have a few reminders!

  1. Register: First and foremost this is OUR meet and we will be using this meet as a fundraiser of sorts for our club. We need as many swimmers from our team as we can get! We are in need of equipment to replace things that are old and broken. Such as: stretch cords for both in and out of the water, tempo trainers, and other items that we may come up with to benefit your training and continued improvement.
  2. Food: We always provide snacks for the swimmers, coaches, and volunteers (timers, officials) at the meet. We ask that you bring a food or beverage to donate to the meet. Drop off your item/items in the wet classroom upon your arrival at the pool.
  3. Lunch after the meet: When we host our meet in the spring we have started the tradition of going to lunch after the meet at a nearby restaurant. Let’s continue that tradition through to this meet. Look for a sign up sheet near our team’s area on the pool deck tomorrow if you can make it!
  4. Volunteer timers for the first session: The Milford High School team there as timers for the second session (starting at 9:30) but we could use MAC volunteers as timers and counters for the 1500 in the 1st session that starts at 7:30am. If you would be willing to volunteer please arrive no later than 7:15.
  5. Relays: I will be deck entering all the relays tomorrow at the meet. I will make a draft of relays this evening and finalize those in the morning after the deck entries close. If you have an issue with any of the relays please let me know either via email and when you arrive on deck tomorrow.
  6. Finally, don’t forget tomorrow’s meet is short course meters! If you’re the type to compare times don’t forget to convert your times first before you compare to short course yards. Here’s a conversion tool (which is also on our website in the upper right corner): https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/time-conversion

See you on Saturday morning swimming, volunteering, or encouraging!

From the Coaches:
Kris: A special thanks to those of you who supported the MHS Girl’s Swim & Dive Ride & Drive Fundraiser last week – it was much appreciated! Shout out to Mike Smith. He came in along with the girls team on their Peak Week on Saturday and swam all 10,000 yards with them (even did the 1500 yards with t-shirt and socks, yards with the buckets, and 100 pushups). He earned himself a free breakfast with them afterwards as well. Great job Mike!

Monday Distance: We will be doing our first long swim tomorrow. Each month we try to do one long swim so that when we get to meets we are prepared for them. We set goal paces, swim the distance, evaluate, and then work toward our goals in future workouts.

Wednesday: We will be continuing on backstroke and backstroke turns.

Maria: Reminder there is no Saturday practice on this Saturday (October 28). See you at the meet!

Melissa: It’s great to see so many new faces at our evening practices! Welcome to MAC! Consider coming to our meet on Saturday. It’s a great “first” meet or a great chance to get back into competing. You’ll get lots of support and cheering and the comfort of your home pool.

Dianne: We will be moving away from butterfly this week and beginning to transition into breaststroke. This week you will see a return to the float and body dolphin creating the foundation of undulation in breaststroke.

On Friday, we will work with Tempo Trainers and get ready for the meet on Saturday!

On a Personal Note:
I hope to see as many of you as possible at the meet this weekend. Our home meets are the perfect opportunity to just have fun and enjoy the sport of swimming. We have had many new teammates join our group since the start of the fall and this would be a perfect chance to see what MAC is all about!

I hope to see those new teammates, the old teammates, and the teammates that we maybe haven’t seen for a while! Kristin Textor, Tom Neal, Diane Petronio, Michele Snyder and Erika Thompson, to name a few…we miss you and hope to see you back at the pool soon!
