A Special THANK YOU Goes out to Coach Melissa Richardson and Coach Jim Izzi for a successful 2020 (and first EVER) MAC to the Moon! This event would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the hard work, persistence, and dedication of the these wonderful MAC coaches!  Even thou the event got rained out last weekend, todays weather was perfect for an open water swim, and we are thinking of making this an annual event!

Candi got a picture of the duck that was part of so many peoples’ swims. The duck was mingling with the swimmers during the pre-race meeting on the beach, and then dove in with the group and swam away with the team at the start!  We’ve already tracked her down to see if she wants to join MAC.

BIG Swim!
MARK YOUR CALENDAR!  Saturday September 12th, 2020

Tom Welsh has once again graciously offered to host the LAST Big Swim of the summer on Saturday September 12th!  MAC swimmers, guests, and non-swimmers are welcome. Tom will host MAC at his home on Long Lake in Hartland (just 20 minutes from Milford). The lake is approximately 2.5 miles around.  Swimmers can choose any distance they want to swim.  There will be a couple kayaks and a pontoon boat to support the swimmers.  We try to hit the water by 10:00 and then lunch at noon. Food and drinks will be provided and all the swimming you could ask for, especially now!  A small donation can be made to the MAC (ALL proceeds going to the MAC Team fund).  Please RSVP to: twelsh217@gmail.com The address is: 1411 Shady Crest, Hartland, MI.  Don’t miss this great event!

Time Change:
Practice will now be held on Friday mornings from 9-10:30am.

Sign-Up:  Due to COVID we will only be limited to 12 swimmers per practice. Swimmers will sign up via Sign-Up Genius on a first come, first serve basis. Sign-up is on the honor system, please make sure to cancel if you not able to make a practice in order to allow another swimmer to claim the spot.  Click Here to Sign Up.

Reminder:
When you are attending practice please make sure that you are using the parking lot on the east side of the pool, the parking located directly in front of the pool is for club members only. Also, Walnut Creek requires coverups in the parking lot and areas outside of the pool. Please make sure to bring a cover-up to wear over your suit when entering and exiting the pool. Thank you!

Coached Open Water WorkoutsCoach Maria will be offering coached open water workouts as MAC partners with The Mighty Grind.

For all interested, participants will need to either buy a session package (6 or 10 sessions) or pay the drop in fee.  Interested swimmers can purchase those at https://mightygrind.com/packages-and-pricing

Available to MAC Swimmers only: buy a package, and Coach Maria will add on 1 session free (to a 6-session pack, $130.00) or 2 sessions free (to a 10-session pack, $215.00).

For those not interested in a package, the drop in fee is: $25/session

This schedule shows all the swim workouts, including bike, and run workouts.  Note that the locations are all different from week to week!

We’ll continue to have our informal group swims on certain Saturday mornings. This year Dunham Lake in Highland will be our “home” lake. Main Beach: 1010 Murray Hill, Highland, 48357

  • For those of you new to MAC…Coach Melissa leads a group swim on certain Saturday mornings during the summer months.  It’s not a formal practice and there’s no coaching – just a group swim of varying distances.  We use the buddy system and watch out for one another.  Various levels and speeds of swimmers – EVERYONE welcome!

We Meet at 7:45 am – Hitting the Water by 8:00 am
