Noteworthy: Happy New Year! We are looking forward to the Clinics continuing this week on Thursday and Friday. Friday, January 4th, we will welcome special guest Rick Walker who will come and speak with our team the last 30 minutes of the clinic. Rick Walker is the former Head Coach of the Sarasota Sharks Y Masters Team. Rick is recently retired but is still swimming and competing. Here is a link to a recent article written after Rick won gold in the 3 kilometer open water race at the FINA World Championships in Hungary (https://www.heraldtribune.com/sports/20171002/swimming-walker-and-sharks-masters-have-grown-together). Rick will share his personal experiences and beliefs on Masters Swimming and distance swimming. You are not going to want to miss this opportunity! Let’s represent our MAC family and welcome Rick on Friday.
Here is a list of the clinics offered this week:
01/03 MHS 7:30-9:30am Starts
-Let’s work together to improve your speed off the block and entry into the water by fixing your block technique! We will include jumping, diving the side, and jumping/diving from the blocks in the warmup for this session. We will work with any ability and comfort level to create the best start for you!
01/04 MHS 7:30-9:30am Relay Starts/Exchanges
-This is a topic we don’t touch on very often in practice, so we’d like to help our Relays by working on technique and timing off the blocks for relays! The last half hour of this session we will welcome our special guest, Rick Walker who is excited to talk with us and share his personal story and what he has learned from being a Masters Swimmer.
