Noteworthy: We continue to welcome new swimmers to practices and into the MAC family! We are so excited to share all the wonderful things this team has to offer with you! Thank you all for choosing MAC!
This week we will start to focus on Freestyle, specifically the rotation of the stroke. We will also continue to work on streamlines, body position, ready position, and kick!
Please see the State Meet heading below. It has been moved to Noteworthy because MAC is hosting the 2019 Michigan Masters State Meet! We will have lots of important info to keep track of throughout the season and we need everyone to stay informed!
Make sure you check out our Calendar tab on our website!
State Meet: We’re happy to announce that State Meet 2019 is now officially on the calendar for April 12-14 at Waterford Mott High School. Be sure to plan your vacations, snowbird travel, child’s weddings, birth of grandchildren, etc. all around this extra special event so we can have every single MAC swimmer in attendance this year! We’ve got some planning meetings this fall to line up some sponsor ideas, as well as spread out the volunteer responsibilities. We will get all the information out to you as we get it all set with the other Huron Valley teams we are partnering with to host since this is such a large event. The Milford HS Boys’ and Girls’ Teams, Lakeland HS Boys’ and Girls’ Teams, and Huron Valley Penguins will all be working together and all proceeds will go to help replace the scoreboards and software timing systems at the two facilities. Total cost for both is almost $80,000 and we’re hoping that with a great job at state meet and some extra sponsorship opportunities we could raise up to $15,000 of that. So be sure to mark your calendars and more info to come!

From the Coaches:
Kris: I had a great time representing both Michigan and MAC at the USMS Annual Convention this past weekend. It was very interesting to be a voting delegate and be a part of the process of changing rules, approving budgets and so much more! I sat in some committee meetings and learned more about the USMS coaching process, Top 10 times, and swimming and aging. In our down time Jim Izzi, who also attended, and I came up with some great new ideas to bring back to MAC that we’re hoping you’ll see in the near future! Coming up this week on Tuesday’s distance workout we’ll be continuing the early season focus on walls and streamlines. Thursday’s still workout is still TBD but may depend on how well your walls and streamlines look on Tuesday!
Melissa: It was nice to meet Dirk and Kevin last Wednesday at evening practice!
Maria: Welcome to all new MAC Swimmers! Saturday practices, like last year, will be moderate to moderate hard workouts, focusing on technique and meet skills. Options for distance free and also Stroke/IM each week. We will be doing a lot of turns work, and are already bringing in starts.
Dianne: I am excited to get into freestyle this week but we won’t leave behind all that we have learned and improved over the last 2 weeks! Remember that new skills don’t always come easily or comfortably but the more you practice, the more likely you are to ingrain that new skill in your brain! Make yourself stick with it and you’ll see the benefits!
On a Personal Note: Congrats to all of our teammates who competed at the Milan Meet this morning: Maria Veen, Kevin Markell, Terry Bond-Manville, Laura Gogola, Patrick Sturdy, Chuck Olsen, and Joannie Eastridge.
Communication: If you have questions for any of the coaches don’t hesitate to ask! Here’s a quick list of emails to make that a bit easier!
