Noteworthy: What a Welcome Back week we have had so many friendly faces and many new faces as well! It has been a great week! This week take note of the schedule, we have to cancel Thursday morning’s workout, plan accordingly!
We will have an IM test set Wednesday this week and we will continue to work resetting Streamlines, body position, ready position, and kick!
Please see the State Meet heading below. It has been moved to Noteworthy because MAC is hosting the 2019 Michigan Masters State Meet! We will have lots of important info to keep track of throughout the season and we need everyone to stay informed!
Make sure you check out our Calendar tab on our website!
State Meet: We’re happy to announce that State Meet 2019 is now officially on the calendar for April 12-14 at Waterford Mott High School. Be sure to plan your vacations, snowbird travel, child’s weddings, birth of grandchildren, etc. all around this extra special event so we can have every single MAC swimmer in attendance this year! We’ve got some planning meetings this fall to line up some sponsor ideas, as well as spread out the volunteer responsibilities. We will get all the information out to you as we get it all set with the other Huron Valley teams we are partnering with to host since this is such a large event. The Milford HS Boys’ and Girls’ Teams, Lakeland HS Boys’ and Girls’ Teams, and Huron Valley Penguins will all be working together and all proceeds will go to help replace the scoreboards and software timing systems at the two facilities. Total cost for both is almost $80,000 and we’re hoping that with a great job at state meet and some extra sponsorship opportunities we could raise up to $15,000 of that. So be sure to mark your calendars and more info to come!

From the Coaches:
Kris: Distance Tuesday
As we head out of September and into October we will be building basic yardage, resetting our stroke and turns and starting our pace work.
Sorry to miss you all this week but I am heading down to Jacksonville, Florida for my first USMS convention! Looking forward to it, doing some networking, representing Michigan Masters, and also taking advantage of the morning swims at the Bolles School (look up pictures online it looks amazing!). We did sculling last Thursday and will be heading onto…..not sure about next week! It may be Free, it may be Back, or I may pick up something new and exciting down south so you’ll just have to join us and see!
Jim: Who is up for a challenge?
Complete the 2018-19 Check-Off Challenge. The challenge is to swim every event offered in a swim meet at least one time during the 2018-19 swim meet season ending with State Meet. Events can be a mix of yards or meters. Its a great way to swim outside your comfort zone, and you might actually find a new event that you like!
The complete swim meet schedule is on the Michigan Masters website: www.michiganmasters.com. Swim each event, complete the attached worksheet, and receive a MAC prize!
A downloadable PDF – Check-off challenge work sheet available on the front page of our website.
Melissa: It was like the first day of school this week, catching up with everyone and seeing how your summers were! It’s great to be back and looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday evenings. And a big welcome to our new folks!
Dianne: Monday will focus on Steamline and kick (fly and FR). Wednesday we will get into an IM test set for some added fun and Friday we will work that streamline and kick FAST!
On a Personal Note: We are happy to be back in the water for the season! Make sure you welcome our new members: Amy Brunner, Brandon Marriott, Denise Costanzo, Debbie, Candi, Jenny Lessard, Jeannie Moss, and Rebecca! We are getting to know all of the new swimmers and have been thrilled to see all of the familiar faces this week. Welcome Back MAC!
