Milford Monsters: Short Course Meters meet at our pool! This meet is a sprinter’s dream! 100s and 50s of strokes, 100 and 200 IM, 400 and 1500 FR. Also, the short relays, 200 FR and Medley! The most awesome part is that there is a 25 meter race that will be contested tournament style! No matter how much you have or have not (me) been in the water, everyone can swim a 25! Put this meet on your TO DO list and sign up on the Michigan Masters website! Let’s start off the year in MAC fashion and have a great presence at this meet!

From the Coaches:
Kris: Monday group: Distance freestyle will be continuing to build yardage through October. We will also be doing a little stroke reset on our freestyle while we set some goals as well as learning about pacing and our own stroke style.
This Wednesday we will continue to work on streamlines and start to work on flip turns for both free and back.

Maria: Saturday: we have been working on streamline for all strokes, and on conditioning. We will also be starting to work starts & turns practices into the workouts. This is a great way to start your weekend!

Melissa: Jim and I would love to see you all – we’ll be reinforcing the goals of the morning workouts so you’re not left out of any of their fun.

Dianne: This week we began stroke reset and talked about buoyancy and how it relates to our flotation in the water and further how we can use that knowledge to achieve the best, most efficient body position in the water. When we can float on the surface of the water with a perfect body position that allows everything from our head to our toes to be in line we can not only swim with more efficiency by creating less frontal drag but we can also learn to swim with ease without dragging our bodies through the water. Thus, learning our swimming posture! Take a look at this video from legendary Coach Richard Quick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwOhW6YK_1k

This week we will add to this by working rotation for free and back and introducing undulation for fly and breast!

On a Personal Note: I am so encouraged by what I have seen over the past couple of weeks. Our practices have been fantastic. You are all working so hard and have been so flexible to all of the schedule changes we have experienced since the beginning of September. MAC continually inspires me! Keep up the fabulous work!
