From the Coaches:
Maria: This week’s Open Water practice will be at Spring Mill Pond (tuesday evening). Please arrive by 6:15 so we can be swimming by 6:30. ***Bring zoomers or fins this week!!! (And also a brightly colored cap – required, a safety buoy – if you have it, and water or sports drink.) Water temp is warm, so you don’t need a wetsuit.
Melissa: This week’s group swim at Trout on Saturday morning will be led by Kim. I’ve had a few swims in Trout this week and while it’s been better…still have some issues with swimmers itch. It isn’t going to keep me away…we can’t let those little buggers win. Zinc-based cream and swimming in deeper water seems to help.
Jim:
Kris: Gone for summer season
Dianne: The Walnut Creek practice was well attended again this week with 9 swimmers! Practices are going well and this weekend we introduced a new game SWOLF (swimming + golf); the lowest score wins. The swimmers swam a total of three 50s at different intensity levels and them added their times plus their total stroke count for the 50. It is always fun to bring new ways of testing and challenging swimmers to the pool! Open water swimmers take note that it is always good to mix in some pool swimming during the week as well for some different perspectives and cross training! I will continue to adapt workouts on Mondays and Wednesdays for those swimmers who wish to focus solely on open water.

On a Personal Note: Congratulations go out to many this week!
